Try Not to Panic

There is no denying that with its well rendered graphics and attention to detail Crysis is visually stunning and the large locations almost seem to leap off the screen. But is the game more than just a pretty face? The following review answers this question and much more.

There are some games that have been so cleverly created that you almost want to sit back and applaud. This is the case with Crysis. Of course, the first thing anyone will notice is the landscapes. Lush jungle shares space with towering alien war machines that are simply remarkable in their detail and futuristic design. The visuals feel interactive and players can almost feel the snow on their skin as it falls on their characters.

The game is set in the year 2020 and aliens have just invaded. Players take on the role of a US Special Forces team that has been sent to a remote Pacific Island to try and rescue a team of scientists and hopefully save the day. As the game advances the side missions and tasks become more and more diverse and there is plenty here to keep players occupied and engaged.

Players will find that they are kitted out in special non suits that are able to boost their speed, strength and armour. These mysterious and miraculous suits can even mask players from the enemy for certain periods of time, making it possible to sneak around and take stock of the situation without being spotted.

The game starts when players are parachuted into the tropical island paradise. The island is simply crawling with aliens and there is not much time to simply relax and look around. The pace of the game and cool missions are sure to keep the adrenaline pumping and players will want to keep their eyes open and their wits about them at all times.

Once gamers get over the thrill of the impressive graphics, they will soon discover that the rest of the game is also very detailed. The action of the game is very engaging and the large number of missions and their variety means that fans of shooter games will want to keep playing Crysis for hour after hour.

Pros

  • The game play is exciting and dynamic
  • The visuals are absolutely stunning
  • Environments are just waiting to be destroyed

Cons

  • The single player story is uninspired
  • No team death match
